2014 Run the Line General Information
The Lucky 7th Annual Run the Line Half Marathon is Sunday, February 16, 2014, in Texarkana, Texas and Arkansas. This is a unique opportunity to run in one race in two states.
The General Start is at 8:00 a.m. downtown at the intersection of Broad & Main Streets. Look for the Bi-State Justice Building at 100 N. Stateline Avenue. We have four Pace Groups this year. All Pace Group leaders are well-experienced great runners. Look for the Pace Group signs at the start.
There is a 7:30 a.m. Early Start at the same location for walkers, physically challenged athletes, and slower runners who need more than 3 hours to complete the race. The course closes at 11:00 a.m.with limited support for those who finish after 11:00 a.m. The race ends downtown at 3rd Street and Wood Street at the historic Hopkins Ice House.
We are in the Arkansas Grand Prix series for the fifth year. There are only 20 races in the series. This is the fourth year of the annual RRCA Arkansas vs Texas competition. Arkansas won the first two years but Texas won in 2013.
The course is USATF certified (#AR09010DLP) and relatively flat with several long inclines. It goes through both Cities of Texarkana with a portion of the race on the Arkansas/Texas Stateline. The course is a single loop that is primarily asphalt and includes the Nix Creek Trail, the Phillip McDougal Trail in Spring Lake Park, and city streets with coning.
The half-marathon includes 2-person relay teams. Electronic timing chips are provided for runners and walkers. Multiple water stops, restrooms, volunteers, and music are stationed along the course. After the race, all runners are invited to join us at the finish line for food, drinks, and awards. The award ceremony will start about 11:15am.
We still have t-shirts available. If we run out of t-shirts, we will do our best to provide a t-shirt to those who register later. All finishers will receive a medal.
